ScaleStreams Products: Intel Scalable Processor
ScaleStreams With Intel Xeon Scalable Processor
High Density Storage Servers
The Scalestreams line of High-Density Servers delivers a solution that improves the power efficiency while increasing the density of the computing power. This system provides both savings in rack space and weight without sacrificing performance. Scalestreams features a design that provides maximum flexibility and customizability. Each model features a hotswappable design that makes maintenance easy and simple while reducing downtime.

High Density Storage
When it comes to speed in throughput, ScaleStreams is not as fast as FlacheStreams. ScaleStreams is excel at storage capacity. It is designed with the purpose to maximize utilization of rack mount space. ScaleStreams uses every bit of space within the finite area within the data centers. Within a 4U space, it can scale from 48 bays to 72 bays. Putting 14TB (Terabyte) HDD into 72 bays will have 1 PB (Petabyte) in storage. ScaleStreams lower the cost of ownership by is having an improve performance design to handle heavy workload, reduce power consumption, and able to push the limit of storage each server can hold.
12Gb/S SAS3 Technology
With 72 bays using SAS HDD drive, it can achieve a maximum 14 Gbit/s. Unlike FlacheStreams that focus on Speed using the latest NVMe protocol, ScaleStreams is using the latest 12G SAS interface technology. NVMe is not suitable for high capacity storage server because the CPU will not able handle this many storages at once, creating a bottle neck and waste of resources.
SAS interface is compatible with SATA SSD by sacrificing a small amount of time to translate the SATA SSD data. SAS can do everything SATA does, but not vice versa. Instead of SATA III that can achieve 6 Gbit/s, SAS is able to get 12 Gbit/s and has dual ports. The second port used for redundancy so that the drive is still available after the path for the controller fail.
It was not an ideal to use SAS before since the price of SAS SSD was almost double the price of SATA SSD. However, the price gap of SAS SSD and SATA SSD has been getting closer. Currently, the price of SAS SSD is about 5% to 10% more than SATA SSD. Giving that SAS is a more advanced technology compared do SATA, has an increased speed and redundancy features, it is hard to get pass on using 12G SAS interface for high volume storage servers.
Patented Tool-less and Tray-less
ScaleStreams provides a tool-less and tray-less design that allows ease of maintenance and serviceability on faulty drives. Accessing from the front, all the drives are hot-swappable with a simple click. Not only that, in the rear, the fans, expanders, and power modules are all hot-swappable. These eliminate down time and save cost of ownership.
Balanced Architecture
The ScaleStreams family is designed around a balanced architecture. Each product is carefully designed to ensure that there is no waste of storage resources. ScaleStreams can achieve a balanced architecture thanks to the add-on cards connected via PCIe x16 Gen 3.0. Every throughput from the storage to the CPU to network need to be carefully, strategically designed to make sure that there is no bottle neck in communication.
