12Gb/S SAS3 Technology

OmniStreams is designed with the latest generation of SAS technology and achieves 12Gb/s for each port. It also supports end-to-end 12Gb/s storage devices such as HDD/ SSD through 12G SAS expanders, 12G SAS HBAs, and RAID controllers. OmniStreams can also support 36 physical 12G SAS expanders by providing dual ported SAS to enable redundancy for shared-storage devices.

SAS interface is compatible with SATA SSD by sacrificing a small amount of time to translate the SATA SSD data. SAS can do everything SATA does, but not vice versa. Instead of SATA III that can achieve 6 Gbit/s, SAS is able to get 12 Gbit/s and has dual ports. The second port used for redundancy so that the drive is still available after the path for the controller fail. SAS also includes many more advanced SCSI commands like error recovery, error handling, reservations, signal distance, and block reclamation compare to SATA. Currently there is no plan to increase the speed of SATA higher than 6Gbit/s. Also, the price of SAS is about 5% to 10% higher than SATA SSD. With the double speed increment, redundancy features and more advanced SCSI commands, SAS not only helps the SATA drives but also improved it in almost every aspect.

Patented Tool-less and Tray-less

OmniStreams provides a tool-less and tray-less design that allows for superior ease of maintenance and serviceability on faulty drives. All bays in can be easily hot-swappable with a single click. Some systems also have rear bays and those are hot-swappable. In addition, there are two hot-swappable power supplies; one is used as redundacy in case of failure. These innovative features allow system integrator technicians, IT administrators, and Service Technicians the ability to save on integration/ service times, which ultimately helps with lowering the overall total cost of ownership (TCO).

In order to help achieve efficient power management, OmniStreams Servers are designed with 92% powerefficient redundant power supplies. All the models in the OmniStreams family are certified with 80 plus Platinum Power Supplies with feature such as PMBUS 1.2 better management monitoring and control. These power supplies generate less heat, run quieter, and lower its energy consumption. Since servers run 24/7 most of the time, it is best to invest into these high-effiency power supply.
